FaceRig v1.0
FaceRig is a program that aims to enable anyone with a webcam to digitally embody awesome characters. The output can be recorded as a movie or streamed to Skype, Twitch, Hangouts or any service that traditionally uses a webcam in real time. FaceRig is currently still in development.
FaceRig is face motion tracking software that allows you to replace your face with that of a fox, a fairy, a demon, or any number of digital characters while on video calls with friends over Skype, Google Hangouts, or other similar programs.
Making chat more fun than ever
What exactly is FaceRig you ask? Well, it is a facial recognition program that uses your webcam to track parts of your face which it then maps onto an avatar of your choice to animate it. The output can be played on Skype, Twitch, and other similar services.
FaceRig does all of this in real-time letting your avatar move with you as you speak, mapping your voice and gestures. This is possible because FaceRig encodes the audio and video output from your camera and then acts as a virtual webcam which it relays to your video chat.
Among the possible avatars are monsters, animals, wizards, and a few licensed characters from games (such as Octodad). If you wish to make it more realistic there are also human characters available!
Thus, FaceRig allows you to chat in partially anonymity not showing your real face.
A new update is live on the "nextversion" branch, bringing some fixes for bugs our community reported after our latest patch.
Full change log below---->
(Halloween DLC) Avatar Greta now has animated hands
fixed Avatar Zyraxes animations
added Avatar Zyraxes Retargeted (uses an enhanced version of Free Form Retargeting tracker interpretation module, should be more expressive)
fixed infinite loading hang. Sometimes the app would hang indefinitely while starting up.
changed movie export method for low resolutions. The movie is rendered at a minimum resolution of 1280x720 and then downscaled to the desired lower resolution. Above 1280x720, the movie is rendered at the specified resolution.
changed UI SDK version. This will fix a save layout issue; previously, if an element was outside the view, it wouldn't have been saved at all.
added tips and funny comments
implemented eye lid compensation/correction when turning head
eyes left right calibration was not applied when artificially looking at cam or back (when eyes are not tracked). When the avatar is set to look at the camera the eyes are now calibrated correctly.
fixed pupil behavior on small eyes left right ranges
fixed .bmp export issue. The frame by frame export function was exporting a single file for every 4 frames.
Increased default eyebrow noise threshold.
reduced amplitude of some visemes, they now apply 70% of their max pose
